Can you believe we’ve been listening to that mentally unstable orange blowbag for more than a year? Doesn’t it feel like 3 years? 10? More than listening, we’ve been subject to his and his minions’ whims, cruelties, murderous ICE violence, general nonsense, and insanity.
But, my dears we are still here. Still resisting, fighting, helping, surviving and bearing witness for those who can’t. My friends, the kid, I and several hundred thousand of our friends and neighbors were at the 3rd No Kings rally yesterday on the Boston Common. It was cold, but sunny. I found the crowd and the speeches from our representatives, community group leaders, a political comedian and the music from Dropkick Murphys to be the much needed boost to vaccinate against the grim news that just keeps coming.
The theme of the day was to keep going, to not give in to helplessness or hopelessness because that’s what those motherfuckers want us to do. We’ve successfully pushed back, gathered together, and are taking care of each other.
This is what democracy looks like.

We of course will feel helpless and hopeless sometimes, and I certainly was feeling it before yesterday. But I’m good to press on for another round. And when I start flagging, I will sing along to this perfectly apropos song that the Dropkick Murphys wrote in 2017. They are now gleefully dedicating it to the tangerine crybaby.
